I don’t have the creativity to be a designer, nor the math skills to be an engineer. I’m too meticulous to be a technician, and too slow to be a specialist. I complete apathy towards anything if it doesn’t have to do with my passion, and little sympathy for others. I have no ambitions, nor motivations. I tend to simply shut down when I encounter something I don’t like or can’t comprehend. I don’t typically have the energy to do my best, but when I do, I don’t want to do anything. All I want to do in life is dick about with cars. Is that so wrong?

It’d be great if you could afford to like cars living off of NEETbux but that isn’t the case. Centrelink or your local equivalent aren’t that generous.

Without the car thing you’d be a perfect standup comic.

be a mechanic? a detailer? maybe work in a parts store? I used to work in a store catering to trucks, mostly work stuff and some appearance and performance add-ons. a world above a Pep-boys. They also did installation. It was mostly tool boxes cat-backs, step boards

From your other posts, I'm guessing you are young. Maybe high school age? It took me till almost the end of college to "want" to expand my mind so I can be more successful in myself and in life. Several life event will need to happen before someone can get there. Don't worry. For now, live life as you see fit. It'll come.

Nope, but cars are an expensive hobby. So you have to find a way to make money dicking with cars, or you can do what I do and endure a job that you’re not in love with so that you can fund your hobby(ies).

I have a cousin that works at a military base doing civilian work in Germany. All he does is tires on the Humvees and track work on tanks. He isn’t in the Army or anything but gets to travel and gets paid well. He took like half this year off here in San Antonio just relaxing. He’s back to work now. He owns an old BMW and Jeep over there. The reason I’m telling you this is because he was a lot like you at one point. He used to say the same things.

I’ll probably just end up doing what you do.

Tell that to Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman, Adam Carolla, Joe Rogan, Bill Burr, etc.

Good technicians are meticulous. Speed comes with experience. If you don’t want to work quickly, look into the restoration industry.

Already on abilify and Zoloft. Maybe I should look into a better blend

“I (have) complete apathy towards anything if it doesn’t have to do with my passion, and little sympathy for others.”
You sound perfect for an IT job.

Three of those things are not like the others. And they had to make it big (or faily big) before they could indulge in their passion.

You’re ~16 or 17 years old, right? If so, don’t worry about not having your life all figured out yet. Hell, it might be best that you don’t.
- Do your best in school, not just in stuff you enjoy but every class. By not doing so your are only closing doors to potential paths down the road.
- pursue your passion(s). In the case of your automotive obsession maybe try to get a job helping out at a shop or restoration place might be a good way to go (offering to do it for free for a bit helps to get in the door). In BC I imagine there are places running JDM stuff more or less year round so there must be a decent market.
Do those things and you’ll figure out what you want to do. Check back when you have to start applying to schools but don’t frett too much in the meantime.
